Lesson with an Enlightened Master

B.T. – a powerful spiritual teacher – has been known to reduce the person to true nothingness…but only if one is capable of seeing and listening. Recently, Takuin sat with B.T. to listen. This short post is the result of what Takuin heard from the great master.

Never a word…

Even though the exterior,

Might be rough,

And creatures may eat you alive.

Never a word…

You may support generations,

Millions of creatures,

Whom never thank you,

No recognition,

No gratitude,

No return,

But you’ll keep giving,

And loving.

Never a word…

You may be used completely,

Unrecognizable,

Destroyed by the very people,

You’ve sheltered from rain,

But you will give of yourself freely,

That they might find support in a new way.

Never a word…

Be it in the grasses,

In the city,

By the river,

Or on the mountain,

You will never lose your freedom.

Never a word will set you free.

Ah, Bodhi Tree.

Big trees are great masters–as well as dancing grass.

Thank you, Rizal.

It is all there to teach us, in every moment…

By the way, I only meant Big Tree….Bodhi Tree never actually crossed my mind. ;)

Trees, trees against the sky -
O I have loved them well!
There are pleasures you cannot buy,
Treasurers you cannot sell,
And not the smallest of these
Is the gift and glory of trees. . . .
So I gaze and I know now why
It is good to live – and to die. . . .
Trees and the Infinite Sky.

Thank you, Davidya.

I’ve never heard that before. I like it very much…

So I gaze and I know now why
It is good to live – and to die. . . .

That is it, right there….

Hi Takuin. So many times, one wants to say so many words yet to not say a word is to set oneself free. It is hard for me, and I wonder if my self is ready for nothingness just yet ;-) , yet not to say a word (out of true compassion), i can definitely try. Thank u, this is such a incredible post

Thank you, Uzma.

You might also think of the word as a structure, a part of self-activity, and not necessarily a literal word. The self lives by the word, and is the word itself; the structures, definitions, conclusions, beliefs and so on.

It really doesn’t matter how much one has read, how many structures seamlessly support one’s movements, or how deft one might be with their words. The more one speaks of certainty or conclusion based on what someone has told them, or what someone else has handed to them, the more precarious their situations. It only seems safe because they have so much knowledge about what is right. But that right-ness, that security, will always stand in the way of their true clarity of sight, if I can put it that way.

The word will never set us free in the way are are speaking…

I am so glad you can discover these things on your own…even if you say you are not ready for it. ;)
